Our material-intensive economy, which is based on a linear sequence of extraction, production, use and disposal, is primarily responsible for the excessive consumption of resources. The construction sector is particularly affected, which is why the change to a circular model must start there. The leverage effect of the circular economy is great if the principles of circular construction are implemented from the start of planning.
We outline what characterizes circular buildings, analyze challenges in implementation and develop approaches on how "circular management" can be integrated into the quality management of subsidized housing.
