The first parts of the green belt were protected as early as 1905 and these protected areas have been steadily expanded since then. The Vienna Forest and Meadows Charter builds on this legacy and sets the course for the future. Vienna's natural, open and recreational areas are being upgraded and expanded in order to ensure quality of life in times of climate change and to enable biodiversity in a metropolis.
We support the implementation of the charter and, together with the city's environmental protection department, develop concepts for securing areas for recreation and biodiversity, as well as a strong narrative that convincingly conveys the goals of the charter.
