The Future of Carsharing – Challenges, Solutions and Innovations
Car-sharing offers have been an integral part of the variety of means of transport in our cities for years. Whether station-based or station-independent – the location of car-sharing cars usually takes place in public spaces. Visibility and good accessibility play a decisive role in ensuring that offers reach the desired level of awareness and use. There is no question of bringing the sharing vehicles to where more than 80 percent of the routes start and end – close to home. Particularly in urban development areas, the placement of offers is complex, as is the joint responsibility of infrastructure and operating costs in the initial phase. It is of great importance to create well-connected offerings instead of isolated solutions.
In the long term, only emission-free car sharing is compatible with decarbonisation targets. The topic of electrification is therefore becoming more and more relevant for car sharing and brings with it new challenges. Looking further into the future, in addition to electrification, automation will also play a major role.
In zwei Keynotes blicken wir auf bereits gewonnene Erfahrungen und zukünftige Herausforderungen beim Schaffen flächendeckender Carsharing-Angebote nach Wien und Bremen . In weiteren Kurzpräsentationen beleuchten wir einige der vielen spannenden Entwicklungen, die das Carsharing auch in Zukunft weiter prägen werden.
